F.R.A.P./6th Circuit Rules and I.O.P.'s (PDF) Updated December 1, 2009

The following Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure have been amended to reflect a
change in the way in which certain time periods are determined:

FRAP 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15, 19, 22, 25, 26, 27, 28.1, 30, 31, and 41


In addition, a new FRAP 12.1 was adopted addressing motions for indicative

rulings from district courts where an appeal is pending. 

A number of Sixth Circuit Rules and one Internal Operating Procedure have also been amended; they are

6 Cir. R. 27(d)(2)
6 Cir. R. 30(a)(4), (f)(4)(E), and (l)
6 Cir. R. 34(d)
6 Cir. R. 45(a)(7) and (b)
6 Cir. R. 46(b)(3)(D)(ii), (b)(4), (b)(8)(A), and (b)(9)(B)
6 Cir. R. 101(f)(4)

6 Cir. IOP 34(c)(2)


ALL OF THESE CHANGES TO BOTH THE FEDERAL RULES OF APPELLATE PROCEDURE AND SIXTH CIRCUIT RULES TAKE EFFECT ON DECEMBER 1, 2009.
